Fred Martin Detroit Educator of the Year

​The year 2023 marks the seventeenth awarding of the Fred Martin Detroit Educator of the Year, and Coleman A. Young Foundation (CAYF) now invites nominations. Nominees must work in the Detroit community, and must exemplify the leadership characteristics and spirit of late Detroit Mayor Coleman Alexander Young.

CAYF is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization established in 1982 to provide financial support and mentor young Detroiters who seek a college education. CAYF has provided over 450 college scholarships to eligible students from Detroit schools, of all backgrounds.
