Why Contribute?

A contribution to CAYF is an investment in young people who have the talent and the will to uplift themselves through higher learning and and strengthen Detroit through their commitment to making a difference.

What these young people lack is financial support. CAYF provides these students an opportunity to develop their talents.

A contribution to CAYF is a wise investment in the future.

CAYF scholarships are for $20,000. This award is distributed in equal amounts over the four years of undergraduate work.

The Foundation also provides a support system that has proven to be a crucial component in the academic success of CAYF Scholars.

In its scholarship selection process, CAYF seeks out good students who have overcome significant hardship and are ready for the next level of success if given the opportunity.
CAYF Scholars graduate from colleges and universities at a rate far exceeding state and national levels.  The CAYF Scholar Program retains more than 90% of its students. This exceeds the average Michigan college retention rate by more than 30 percent.

Donate Money

The Coleman A. Young Foundation continues to fundraise to pay for college scholarships awarded to selected students and, hopefully, to increase the number of students receiving awards, and the number of children impacted through its youth development program.
